Allen Drilling Machines

Allen began manufacturing upright sensitive single and multiple spindle drilling machines in 1904. Allen's product mix today includes many manual and semi-automatic machines in 5 basic sizes from the very sensitive Super Speed Drilling Machine having a 1/2 HP motor providing spindle speeds up to 12,000 RPM up to the #3 series of machines having fully automatic cycles with 7 1/2 HP spindle drive.

Shown here is an Allen 2 Spindle No.3 type VCDWT having 7 1/2 HP spindle drive motors with automatic cycle and geared lead tapping. The application was pipe tapping cast iron pump flanges.

Shown here is an Allen 2 Spindle No. 2 1/2 Type MAVDW having 3 HP spindle drive motors with automatic power feed cycle. The application was machining three recessed grooves on the ID of powdered stainless steel hose flanges for Cadillac automobiles. Each spindle is equipped with an automatic feed magazine fixture. The parts automatically eject down a chute between the fixtures.

  Shown here is a single spindle No. 3 Type VC with manual feed. This machine was furnished with a six spindle machine base assembly having a cut-out in the main column allowing the operator to drill to the center of a 6' diameter work piece.
